The Maestro Circle represents the enlightened concern of individuals who have felt and seen the impact of Discover Classical in their own lives and in the lives of those in our community. It is a reminder of our mission and symbolizes the desire to see Discover Classical continue to provide classical music and fine arts programming to Miami Valley listeners for years to come!
The Maestro Circle was established by supporters of Discover Classical to help provide for the long-range financial stability of the organization. We do not ask for funds now but request that you consider including Discover Classical in your long-range financial plans. By doing this now, you may find that the tax advantages can increase the value of your estate, enabling you to do more than you might ever have dreamed possible. A planned, charitable gift may be made in a variety of ways:
Wills & Bequests
A gift to Discover Classical by Will permits you to retain all your assets during your lifetime and/or the life of your spouse. Designations may be for a percentage of your estate or for a specified amount.
A Charitable Trust can provide income to you and your spouse as long as either of you live. Thereafter, the trust principal will go to the Discover Classical Endowment Fund. You may name other charities as principal recipients as well.
When you transfer cash or securities of more than $10,000 to The Dayton Foundation, the annuity will guarantee you a fixed stream of income for life. The income will flow to you (and to your spouse, if you desire) after which the remaining principal of the annuity becomes a gift to Discover Classical. This provides a current income tax savings and possible capital gains savings.
A direct gift of cash, appreciated securities or real properties may be the most convenient way for you to make a contribution to the Discover Classical Endowment Fund.
When the added protection of an insurance policy is no longer needed, transferring the policy's ownership to Discover Classical can result in tax benefits for you, and a generous gift for Discover Classical. Discover Classical can also be included as a beneficiary, contingency beneficiary or owner of a new or existing policy.
Charitable Lead Trust
A Charitable Lead Trust can be appropriate if you have ample income now, but desire to retain ownership of the trust principal to meet future financial goals for your family. Income will be directed to the Discover Classical Endowment Fund for the specific term of the trust, after which time the principal will return to you or designated survivors.
For those who may have significant retirement plan assets, potential estate and income taxes on any part of those assets that might still be in one's estate at death can be avoided by making the Discover Classical Endowment Fund the beneficiary of any unused plan assets.
Your tax advisors can help you determine which of these techniques is best suited for your particular circumstances and charitable objectives. You will find that each of these methods of supporting Discover Classical has a varied estate or income tax benefit that can result in a charitable gift that is considerably larger than its after-tax cost to you.
