What I Do: Volunteer host of Theme & Variations

Five Things You May Not Know About Me:

  1. I love singing in choruses. Years ago, I was lucky to be part of the local chorus that performed Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Robert Shaw when the Atlanta Symphony was on tour

  2. In graduate school, I specialized in the literature and culture of Victorian Britain and can tell you much more than you would ever want to know about opera in nineteenth-century London

  3. I live in Kettering with my husband and two rescue dogs

  4. I am a retired university administrator

  5. For eight years I was the Book Review Editor of The Opera Quarterly, and since 2009 I have been reviewing Cincinnati Opera performances for Opera News

One Thing You May Know about Me:

Growing up in rural Oklahoma, I was very fortunate to find a university radio station that reached our corner of the state and played classical music for two hours on weekdays and all day on the weekend. It opened up a whole new world for me. Because the station programmed a great range of music, I learned to love classical music in all forms and from all eras. I hope that "Theme & Variations" can be a way to do that for other listeners.
